The following statement is attributable to Clean Energy Council Regional Director of Policy & Impact - Queensland, Tracey Stinson:

“The Clean Energy Council congratulates David Crisafulli and the Liberal National Party on their victory at the Queensland state election over the weekend.

“We look forward to working closely with the new government on capitalising on the extraordinary opportunities – of increased jobs, investment and development that the transition to clean energy presents for Queenslanders, especially those within regional communities.

“The Sunshine State has been leading the world with the uptake of rooftop solar and is currently seeing a huge rollout of large-scale wind, solar and big battery projects across the state. These projects and many more in the pipeline are key to replacing coal generation as it closes, creating thousands of jobs across rural Queensland and ensuring lower power bills.

“Ensuring this continues requires a stable and clear vision and policy from the state government that gives investors the confidence to build on the strong momentum for renewable energy.

“Queenslanders clearly voted for strong and immediate action on cost of living. Stalling the rollout of least-cost renewable energy and waiting several decades for higher cost nuclear power would be a recipe for much higher power prices and risks to energy security in Queensland."
